Raw Material is a specialised education, training and creative production house, in between Stockwell and Brixton. The centre offers four floors of professionally equipped recording studios, rehearsal rooms, workshop and training room, music, film, photography and digital media facilities.

Raw Material provides bespoke services over a number of projects: after school; for unemployed young people; for career development and specialist skills training in music, media, film, and performance; live events; touring and international opportunities.

Raw Material is an Arts Council England National Portfolio Organisation, an OCN accreditation centre that also offers Trinity Guildhall Arts Award Bronze Silver and Gold.

  • Raw Sounds

    Raw Sounds is a music and arts service for people with mental health problems in hospitals and the community.

    The programme involves:

    • Weekly live music and film making sessions
    • Recording sessions and artist development
    • Live music events and touring
    • Hospital ‘In Reach’ music sessions on the wards

    Our workshops promote collaboration, expression and the chance to build new skills in a creative environment.
    Sessions include:

    • Music production
    • Live band rehearsal
    • DJing
    • Video production
    • Lyric and songwriting
    • Performance opportunities

    Want to attend?  You must:

    • Be referred via mental health services
    • Have support from a care co-ordinator
    • Be committed to attend regularly

  • Raw Material International

    We are developing ‘Songs of Chaos’ an European Union Partnership with the Central Australian Aboriginal Media Association (CAAMA) and the University of Darwin – this project will take place over the next two years in Alice Springs.

    We are hosting young people from the Kwa Mashu Community Development Association from Durban South African and developing an intercultural Hip Hop project in association with The South African Musician Rights Organisation (SAMRO) in Johannesburg.
